Requirements to study in UK

  • You will typically need to have a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, or equivalent.
  • Minimum IELTS 6.0 in all skills for a 1-term course, or minimum IELTS 5.5 with not less than 5.0 in any skill for courses with extra preparatory English, or accepted equivalent.

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

  • Once they offered you a place on the course, your education provider will send you a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies.
  • Enter this reference number on your visa application.
  • Apply for your visa within 6 months of receiving your CAS letter.

VISA Requirement

To apply for a student visa you must submit your visa application at the nearest British High Commission or Embassy. Application with all the mandatory documents and visa fee will be accepted and put up for assessment to an Entry Clearance Officer (ECO) from the nearest visa issuing centre of the British High Commission or Embassy.

Documents Required for UK Student Visa

    • A current passport or other valid travel documentation.
    • Evidence of funds to provide your living expenses for the duration of your course.
    • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) reference number and documents used to obtain CAS.
    • Passport-sized color photographs.
    • Proof of current studies, or current employment. If neither, confirmation of current status.
    • Valid original acceptance letter from school/college in the UK stating.
    • Cost of course fees and receipt for any fees paid.
    • Details of accommodation and how much it costs.
    • The start date and duration of the proposed course.

Part time work option in UK for international students

Recently UK study work visa for international students allow staying in the UK for work after finishing their studies. However, there are definite rules about part-time work in the UK for international students went on a student visa. In case any international student doesn’t fulfill with the rules laid down by the UK Border agency risk of facing transportation.

 Following are the restrictions on working part-time while on UK student visa:

  • Maximum of 20 hours per week of paid/unpaid work for those studying at degree level or more.
  • The student’s visa must be valid and issued for a full time course.
  • Full time work is allowed during vacations.
  • Students pursuing part time courses are not allowed to work in the UK by authorities.
  • You can’t work full time until you have received a work permit (Tier 2).

When you can travel to the UK

You can arrive before your course starts. This can be either:

  • Up to 1 week before, if your course starts 6 months or less.
  • Up to 1 month before, if your course starts more than 6 months.

You must not travel to the UK before the start date given on your visa, no matter when your course starts.
